Construction Services

VERTEX provides forensic services for sureties, law firms and insurance carriers.  We have extensive experience in all building types, and have worked on claims involving storm damage, fire and explosion claims, construction deficiencies, and design deficiencies.

Cost of Repair Estimating

To calculate the fair market cost to repair construction work, VERTEX estimators rely on decades of experience with projects that vary widely in scope and complexity. We typically base our assessments on one or more of the following: discussions with subcontractors, review of vendor pricing, review of construction cost data from widely used industry standard software packages, VERTEX’s historical pricing from the thousands of projects that VERTEX has estimated/completed as a general contractor, detailed quantity takeoffs, and site investigations. Lastly, VERTEX frequently tenders our cost estimates as bids to complete the work.

Architectural / Building Envelope Investigations

The building envelope, or the physical separators between the conditioned and unconditioned environment of a building include: the resistance to air, water, heat, light, and noise transfer. VERTEX conducts third party building envelope reviews, provides analysis of building component failures, provides property condition assessments (PCAs), and coordinates field testing on building components. VERTEX can support building envelope claims related to weather such as: snow load, ice dam, or high winds. Additionally, we have decades of experience evaluating claims related to construction and/or design defects that result in building envelope failures as well.

Mechanical Failure Investigations

When a building’s automation and control systems are not operating as efficiently as possible or are malfunctioning, VERTEX can assist by offering on-site assessment and review by licensed professional engineers and other technical professionals. Our team of professionals can offer professional consulting for various automation and control systems including: chillers, boilers, air handling units, roof top units, fan coil units, heat pumps, elevators/escalators, generators as well as plumbing and water monitoring systems.
