Michael T. Ungeran graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree from Purdue University in 1996. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with the state of Illinois. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) where he served on the state board of directors from 2004-2007. In 2008, the Illinois Section of ASCE acknowledged Mr. Ungeran with the “Citizen Engineer of the Year” award.
Mr. Ungeran’s past experience includes work as an intern for the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) where he oversaw the construction of state highway projects. His efforts at IDOT included calculation of daily progress and yields, document of change orders, maintenance of contract and construction journals and the testing of materials for quality assurance and control reporting. Michael worked as a regional engineer and manager for manufacturing companies of storm water detention products. He was tasked with assisting engineers on the design of the storm water systems and best management practices, working with municipal, county and state agencies to develop proper material specifications and working with utility contractors to gain an understanding of best construction practices with the materials. Mr. Ungeran also practiced site design and development with various civil engineering firms. As a project manager, he would be responsible for the construction of feasibility/due diligence reports, the design the site, grading and utility plans, the construction of an Engineer’s opinion of cost and the submission of permits with all applicable agencies.
Since March of 2009 Michael has provided construction consulting and forensic engineering services. He is routinely tasked with the inspection of structures for damages and the identification of the source and the construction of the associated report with supporting documentation. His work also includes the determination of the scope of damages, the construction of a budgetary estimate, a valuation of the structure and a detailed opinion of cost to execute the required work. If required he will observe, document and report on the construction efforts as well as review and comment on the bid packages and invoice submittals.
