VERTEX managed construction of a $9M Army Reserve Training Center in Tallahassee, Florida, after the general contractor defaulted on the project. The contract involved the new construction of a 23,875-SF training facility and a 5,122-SF maintenance shop. The project also included site improvements, street paving, and utilities servicing the main buildings. As the surety’s consultant, VERTEX provided investigative services and prepared a cost to complete report for the surety. Upon the principal’s default on the contract, VERTEX managed the project’s completion. VERTEX’s services included: providing an initial cost to complete study of the project, developing a reliable completion schedule, ratifying existing subcontracts and buying out remaining scopes of work, resolving any subcontractor claims, and managing the project’s completion. During construction, VERTEX corrected numerous deficiencies in work in place from the previous contractor, as well as managed the project through a rigorous commissioning and startup program and successful closure of the warranty management plan.
