Russ Nelson

Senior Project Manager, Environmental Insurance

Russ Nelson has over 20 years of experience in environmental insurance and consulting. He has performed environmental casualty insurance underwriting for three major insurance carriers and a contracted member of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Superfund Technical Assessment and Response Team (START), where he conducted emergency response for natural and human-caused disasters, remedial oversight, and site investigations of air, water, and soil in a variety of environments and conditions.

Currently, Mr. Nelson serves as a Senior Project Manager at VERTEX. His roles and responsibilities include environmental underwriting loss control and risk characterization and claim management. These roles require assessment and technical oversight of pollution insurance claims throughout the United States to ensure remediation activities are cost-effective and appropriate. These activities include preparing underwriting review, claim investigation, status reports derived from environmental reporting analysis, and invoiced claim costs.
