As Division Manager of the Air Quality service sector of VERTEX, David Scates oversees asbestos, lead-based paint, and other industrial hygiene projects. Specific expertise includes asbestos, lead, industrial hygiene, construction defect investigations, bio-aerosol sampling, emergency response actions, risk assessment, epidemiology, remedial work plan preparation, and remedial oversight.
Mr. Scates has extensive experience in the environmental industry including coordination and performance of Environmental Audits, Hazardous Materials Building Inspections, Industrial Hygiene Investigations, and Indoor Air Quality Studies. Over the last 27 years, he has completed projects for a variety of public sector clients including, the City of Fort Worth, Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD), Dallas Independent School District (Dallas ISD), Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD), Love Field Airport, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, and Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT).
As Senior Consultant on hundreds of environmental claims across Texas and other areas of the southern United States, Mr. Scates has managed claims that have included cause & origin investigations, subrogation analysis, remediation of 1st party & 3rd party losses, pollution policies, cost cap policies, and indoor air quality/industrial hygiene claims. Additionally, he has completed claims management on hundreds of personal asbestos/lead/Indoor air quality losses in Texas and across the southern United States, as well as Puerto Rico.
