Michael Cugino P.Geo, QPESA, P.Geol.

Executive Vice President, Principal Geoscientist

Michael Cugino is the Principal Geoscientist and Executive Vice President of VTX Consulting Services Inc. (VTX), the Canadian subsidiary of The Vertex Company Inc. of Weymouth, MA. Michael has over 35 years of applied professional experience in both the private and public sectors related to business management, environmental management and protection, and environmental construction management. He holds an Honors B.Sc. degree from the Department of Geology at Brock University, is a licensed Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) in Ontario, Saskatchewan, and Nova Scotia, and a licensed Professional Geologist (P.Geo.) in Alberta. He is registered with the Ontario Ministry of the Environment (MECP) as a Qualified Person (QP), pursuant to Ontario’s Brownfield Legislation, Ontario Regulation 153/04, (168.3 (2). Part XV.1.

His roles and responsibilities include corporate leadership, strategic planning, business development, marketing, business management, project management, and provision of technical advisory services. Mr. Cugino has served clients across Canada and in the United States. Specific areas of technical specialization include Phase I & II ESAs, Phase One and Two ESAs pursuant to O.Reg. 153/04, UST Management, Solid and Liquid Waste Management, Site Decommissioning, Remedial Investigations/Remedial Design, Site Remediation, Environmental Construction Management, Environmental Permitting, Designated Substances Assessments/Hazardous Materials Surveys, including Mold and Asbestos Surveys. He is also skilled in the provision of third-party peer review and arbitration/litigation support for environmental law firms and commercial/industrial clients in Ontario and Alberta. Further, Mr. Cugino has provided consulting services related to insurance loss, claim management services to insurance clients including risk management, claim investigation, remedial investigations, regulatory reporting, cost negotiation, and closure negotiations.
