Liam McElroy Hughes

Liam M. Hughes is an Associate for the Commercial Damages and Investigations (CDI) team and is located in VERTEX’s Chicago office. He assists numerous different clients in construction disputes such as owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, and attorneys. His work is primarily centered around construction delay resolution which requires schedule analyses, financial analyses, construction document review, and damages assessments. Prior to his current role as an Associate at VERTEX, Liam attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in May of 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. While earning his degree, he especially focused on the disciplines of Construction Engineering and Structural Engineering through his high-level course work and internships. In the summer of 2023, Liam interned at Lycon Inc., the largest Redimix supplier in WI, as a Quality Control Specialist where he assisted in concrete mix design, on-site product testing, and plant management. In the summer of 2024, Liam interned as a Project Engineer for J.H. Findorff & Son where he worked on-site to assist and manage the construction of UW-Madison’s School of Computer, Data, and Information Sciences.
