VERTEX was retained as an Expert to assess whether historical oil and gas exploration and extraction operations at a site in Louisiana contributed to alleged damages. The plaintiff alleged the following: releases of production waste; a release from a well pad; and improper closure of earthen reserve pits that were utilized to contain drilling fluids during the installation production wells on the Plaintiff’s property. VERTEX identified that the defendant was not involved with the release from the well pads or the operation and/or closure of the earthen reserve pits on the Plaintiff’s property. VERTEX also identified that remediation activities performed for the one release attributed to the defendant were excessive. VERTEX submitted an Expert Report and attended the Hearing in person. The Case settled for an undisclosed amount.
