Matthew R. HumphrevilleMS, CSP, CIH
Industrial Hygienist III, Compliance & Regulatory Services
Matt has experience in the safety and health profession that spans over thirty-five years, beginning with seven and a half years as a commissioned naval officer acting as both a Radiation Health Officer and an Industrial Hygiene Officer.
He retired from the federal government after spending twenty-five years as both a safety and occupational health specialist and an industrial hygienist with federal OSHA. His OSHA experience was accomplished in a wide array of facilities and industries, including manufacturing facilities, construction sites, maritime facilities, agricultural facilities, laboratories and hospitals. He assessed employee exposures to various industrial hygiene health hazards in the workplace, including, but not limited to, waste anesthetic gasses, metal working fluids, isocyanates, asbestos, lead, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, formaldehyde, styrene, respirable silica, methylene chloride, cadmium, arsenic, heat and noise.
Matt spent two years with a geotechnical engineering firm as a Senior Industrial Hygienist working with private sector clients providing safety and health services, including gap analysis, inspections and compliance assistance for OSHA matters.
He then provided support to the Veterans Administration (VA) as a federal contractor and helped to implement occupational safety and health risk management procedures and practices and to develop and sustain high-performing programs to improve safety performance at VA facilities. This included conducting qualitative industrial hygiene exposure assessments (IHEAs) and industrial hygiene training at VA Medical Centers to support assessment of hazards to VA personnel in performance of their job duties, including exposure to noise, radiation, ergonomic hazards, chemicals, thermal stress, and hazardous drugs.
Matt is a Certified Safety Professional and a Certified Industrial Hygienist.
