Texas Property Claim Litigation Bill Passed by the State Senate

On April 30th, the Texas Senate passed a controversial bill limiting the coverage of property insurance for catastrophe-prone areas of the state. Bill 1628 is being argued by insurance carriers that this legislation will ensure the availability of property insurance to all, particularly those in areas where weather damage and other natural events have been occurring with frequency.  Others believe Bill 1628 will make it difficult for consumers to hold insurance companies accountable for fair and timely payment of claims.
