Structural Engineering Podcast – Forensic Investigations

June 9, 2021

VERTEX’s Sam McGlamery, Executive Vice President of Engineering Design Services, recently spoke with Zach Bowden and Max Loeb of The Structural Engineering Podcast. Zach and Max started the podcast to help younger structural engineers get a head start in the industry, learn a little from experts in the field, and have some exposure to new technology and practices. For the last few years, Max, an engineer in Salt Lake, has been putting this podcast together as a hobby with an old co-worker, Zach, an engineer in Fort Collins, CO. In this episode, Sam discusses the reality behind lawsuits and engineering, how likely they are, and what actually happens in the courtroom.

About the Hosts

Max Loeb ME, PE

Max has spent the last 12 years working across all aspects of the construction world. Originally receiving a BA in architectural design, and later a BS and ME in structures. Beyond these he has worked on construction crews, framing, as an architect, handyman, small engine mechanic, and finally structural engineer. Max appreciates all aspects of the built environment and a good sledgehammer.

Zach Bowden, PE

Zach spent his first few years practicing in the northwest where he honed his high seismic detailing skills. Recently, he moved to Fort Collins to fish in the sunshine and was disappointed to find that they don’t have earthquakes.
