VERTEX was retained to assist in the redevelopment of several residential properties to accommodate for a new 14-story high rise apartment building in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The properties were originally developed in the early 1900s and had been utilized for residential purposes. A portion of the site had historically been utilized as a storage annex for the adjoining Pizza House restaurant.
The project included the completion of an ASTM Phase I Environmental Site Assessment of the buildings, which revealed suspect asbestos containing materials (ACMs) and other various hazardous/regulated materials still present in the buildings.
VERTEX conducted a Hazardous Material Survey of the property which revealed the presence of several friable ACMs that required abatement prior to demolition of the site structures. VERTEX completed an Asbestos Work Plan in order to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal asbestos regulations. VERTEX managed and oversaw the asbestos abatement activities and characterized the regulated/hazardous materials on-site for the client for removal prior to demolition of the site structures.
The project was completed on-time and under budget. VERTEX achieved compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and maintained the project timeline.
