In early 2024, Florida’s new 8th Edition Florida Building Code went into effect. Vertex’s Mark Tumeo, PhD, JD, PE, worked within SFPE (Association of Fire Protection Engineers) – Florida Chapter to become a State Board approved provider of an Advanced Building Code Course, which satisfies the triannual requirement for Florida registered PE’s. Dr. Tumeo taught the first session of this latest course earlier this month. This is one of several courses that he has developed and taught, to meet the mandatory Florida PE required courses. He also developed and taught the required course on Florida’s Laws and Rules. Dr. Tumeo is uniquely suited to teach as a board member of the Florida Engineering Management Corporation, Ph.D. in Civil/Environmental Engineering, a Bar-admitted Attorney in Ohio, and over 30 years of experience.
