CASHE (Chesapeake Area Society of Healthcare Engineering) announced its October 2023 Associate Member of the Month as VERTEX’s very own Technical Director of Healthcare Services, Archie Barrett, CIEC, CMC. With over 35 years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety, Mr. Barrett is a dedicated member of CASHE and ASHE.
Archie Barrett, CIEC, CMC is the Technical Director, HealthCare Services for The Vertex Companies. He has been a member of CASHE since 2018, and a member of ASHE since 2008. Archie is married and has 3 sons, 2 daughters-in-law and 3 grandchildren. He originally came to Maryland in the United States Coast Guard, back in 1981, left for a few years before returning in 1986 to go back to school. Archie still contends that Johnny Unitas was the greatest quarterback that ever-played football! He is also sure that Bill Swaggerty was a great baseball player.
Archie Barrett was the founder and President of Compliance Environmental International (CEI) from 1993 to 2019, which was successfully acquired by The VERTEX Companies in 2019. He has over 35 years of experience in the Environmental Health and Safety field. Building upon his vast experiences gained from service in the United States Coast Guard, a health physics technician in the nuclear power industry, and as an environmental consultant in private industry, Mr. Barrett provides superior consulting that specializes in providing industrial hygiene and environmental consulting/engineering services to prominent healthcare facilities.
As the Technical Director of Healthcare Services at VERTEX, Mr. Barrett provides technical guidance and management of Healthcare Industrial Hygiene staff, training and mentoring of Healthcare Industrial Hygiene staff and business development with a focus within the Healthcare sector.
Archie is a Council Certified Indoor Environmental Consultant (CIEC) and a Council Certified Microbial Consultant (CMC). He also sits on the certification board for the American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC).
