We are proud to share that Mark Tumeo, PhD, JD, PE, Vice President of Fire Protection and Life Safety Services at VERTEX, has been named Vice-Chair of the Florida Engineers Management Corporation (FEMC).
Mark’s volunteer service on the FEMC Board reflects his dedication to advancing the engineering profession while upholding the highest standards of public safety. FEMC plays a critical role in supporting the Florida Board of Professional Engineers (FBPE) by regulating the practice of engineering in Florida. With nearly 44,000 active licensed engineers in the state, this work is essential for protecting public health and safety.
Under Section 471.038, Florida Statutes, administrative, investigative, and prosecutorial services are provided to the Florida Board of Professional Engineers by the Florida Engineers Management Corporation. FEMC’s corporate board of directors is composed of seven members. FEMC is a non-profit, single-purpose corporation that operates through a contract with the Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Five directors are appointed by the Florida Board of Professional Engineers and must be Florida registrants. Two directors are appointed by the secretary of the Department of Business and Professional Regulation and must be laypersons not regulated by the Board.
Mark’s extensive expertise and commitment to excellence make him a valuable asset to both FEMC and VERTEX. We are thrilled to see him take on this leadership role in shaping the future of engineering in Florida.
