In Fall 2017, Xpera’s Building Envelope group (now part of VERTEX) began consulting work for the University of California, Irvine. Our team is providing roofing and building envelope waterproofing expertise for two capital improvement projects, including the new 72,000-square-foot Anteater Learning Pavilion and the expansion of the Middle Earth student housing facility, which will add nearly 500 beds to the freshmen dorms as well as expanded dining and housing support services.
Last summer, U.C. Irvine’s department of Design and Construction Services published a Request for Qualifications ad for Roofing and Waterproofing Consulting Services under the guidelines of the California Public Contract Code. Xpera learned about the opportunity from an existing client and felt we were a natural fit for the assignment, based on our experience with other universities and colleges over the years. At the time, we were also providing waterproofing services for U.C. San Diego’s Graduate & Professional Student Housing.
After reviewing credentials, the university shortlisted candidate firms for interviews, subsequently awarding the work to Xpera. In its selection letter, the university reported that our company
“has been identified the best qualified firm to perform roofing and waterproofing consulting services in support of various capital improvement projects.”
“We were extremely excited to be selected by the U.C.I. team and look forward to providing our services on these fantastic projects as the campus expands to facilitate the growing needs of students and faculty,” said Xpera’s director of construction services, Steve Grimes.
