As an integral part of a high rise sprinkler fire alarm/suppression system installation, a leader in the fire alarm/sprinkler installation field retained the services of VERTEX after a thorough shortlisting and interviewing process of companies nationwide to perform a comprehensive asbestos, lead-based paint and regulated materials survey of the occupied Healey Library located on the campus of the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
VERTEX deployed a two-person inspection team to inspect, quantify, assess, and develop a detailed asbestos, lead-based paint, and regulated materials survey report with a comprehensive operations and maintenance program to address the confirmed materials. Hundreds of suspect samples were collected and analyzed to assure that there would be no possible release of hazardous materials during the project.
The report served as an instrument for the various trades involved with the project to avert the potential for damaging the materials during system installation. Detailed and color-coded floor plans were integrated into the report for immediate identification of “Hot” areas to be avoided. VERTEX also implemented a site-specific Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Program for on-site personnel to refer to if any of the identified material was to be affected.
