About this Project

LKB performed construction inspection on this $5 million project to rehabilitate the Smith Point Bridge. Repairs were made to the bascule span and components, as well as the approach spans. Work on the approach spans included structural concrete repair of piers and pre-stressed beams, rehabilitation of the existing asphalt overlay. On the bascule section, there were structural steel repairs including repairs to the trunion tower, rehabilitation of the existing electric drive motors, mechanical repairs on the rack assembly, and miscellaneous work in the control tower including replacement of doors and windows.
