VERTEX was contacted by an insurance carrier to review their insured’s property located in Port St. Joe, Florida after Hurricane Michael. VERTEX was tasked with determining the extent of damage to the property and distinguishing damages caused by strong winds associated with the hurricane and storm surge. The investigation included a visual review of the property, measurements on-site, and a review of available meteorological data. VERTEX was able to determine the approximate depth of the floodwaters by high-water marks at the property and confirmed through flood data published by the United States Geological Survey (USGS). VERTEX provided the insurance carrier with a list of damages caused by storm surge and damages caused by high winds.
