60 Wadsworth Street was a 28 story building located on the intersection of Main Street and Wadsworth Street in Cambridge Massachusetts. This building served as housing for MIT students and families.
The project start date was slated for May of 2021, and estimated completion date for demolition will be in November of 2022. Prior to demolition of the apartment building, VERTEX performed an assessment to determine if the presence of Asbestos Containing Materials, Lead Based Painted Surfaces and Regulated Materials existed. During construction, VERTEX provided full‐time on‐site asbestos project monitoring services in accordance with the Massachusetts Department of Labor Standards (DLS) current regulations (453 CMR 6.00); the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection “Air Pollution Control Regulations,” (310 CMR 7.00); and the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) National Emissions Standard for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAPS) (40 CFR Part 61); as well as local department of health and fire requirements. VERTEX provided a Project Monitor for on‐site inspections of the asbestos abatement, which included: (1) Containment inspection prior to removal (2) Air monitoring for the removal phase outside the work area (3) Post removal visual inspection to ensure proper clean‐up (4) Clearance air Monitoring to establish level of cleanliness achieved.
