Hopkins Elementary School and Walpole High Reach Back-to-School Milestones

January 13, 2026

As students returned to school from their fall break, two Massachusetts projects reached important milestones that are helping keep learning and school operations moving forward while construction continues.

At Hopkins School in Hopkinton, the Owner’s Project Management team has successfully transitioned students and teachers into the new addition as work continues on the renovation and expansion project. The new gymnasium is now fully operational, while the remainder of the new addition is serving as flexible swing space. Classrooms are temporarily housing students and staff from active renovation zones, and the smaller gym/multipurpose room has been converted into a temporary server/cafeteria. This phased approach has been critical in minimizing disruption and supporting day-to-day school operations during construction. The milestone reflects a true team effort as the project progresses toward delivering a fully modernized learning environment.

At Walpole High School, the project reached a key milestone with the issuance of a temporary certificate of occupancy for most of the new field house addition. Students and faculty are already using several completed spaces, including new health classrooms, the team room, the athletic director’s office, and the athletic trainers room. While the main gym remains closed as flooring work is finalized, the full space is scheduled to be turned over to the school on January 17, just in time for its first event—a wrestling match. Once the new gym is complete, the project team will shift focus to renovating the existing gym, which will be transformed into new music and multipurpose spaces.

Together, these milestones highlight the coordination and phased planning required to advance complex school projects while maintaining continuity for students, faculty, and staff throughout the academic year.
