James W. Barratt Appointed to SEC Historical Society Board of Advisors

February 6, 2026

James W. Barratt, CPA, CFF, CCEP, Managing Director, Commercial Damages & Investigations at VERTEX, has been appointed to the Board of Advisors of the Securities and Exchange Commission Historical Society (SECHS), with a term extending through December 2028.

The SECHS recently announced its Class of 2028 Board of Advisors, naming 22 volunteer leaders who support the Society’s mission to preserve and share the history of financial regulation. As an Advisor, Jim will work alongside current members of the Classes of 2026 and 2027 to help guide the Society’s programs, outreach, and long-term initiatives.

This appointment follows Jim’s two consecutive terms of service on the Society’s Board of Trustees, where he contributed to supporting the organization’s continued growth and impact. His transition to the Advisory Board reflects an ongoing commitment to advancing the Society’s mission and future success.

At VERTEX, Jim serves as managing director within the Commercial Damages & Investigations practice, where he provides investigative services, government enforcement consultingdamages assessment, and accounting support on complex commercial, regulatory, and litigation matters. His prior public service as an SEC enforcement accountant, and experience across financial regulation, investigations, and dispute-related services aligns with the Society’s mission of preserving and sharing the evolution and impact of financial oversight in the United States. VERTEX congratulates Jim on this appointment and recognizes his continued leadership and service within the broader financial and regulatory community.
