On August 25, 2025, the Town of Norwood celebrated the ribbon cutting of the new Dr. Philip O. Coakley Middle School, a 188,000 SF facility serving grades 5–8. VERTEX provided Owner’s Project Management (OPM) services, supporting the Town from early planning through construction completion.

The new school addresses overcrowding in Norwood’s elementary schools and offers students modern spaces for learning and collaboration. Key features include a 600-seat auditorium, four STEAM labs, and a synthetic turf multipurpose field. The design also intentionally separates lower (grades 5–6) and upper (grades 7–8) schools, each with dedicated dining areas and teacher collaboration spaces.
Throughout the project, VERTEX guided a transparent process that enabled consensus from the community, school committee, and town leadership. The result is a forward-looking educational facility that will serve Norwood families for years to come.
