VERTEX Sponsors NASP 2025 with Lance VanDemark on Railroad Claims

October 28, 2025

VERTEX will sponsor and exhibit at the NASP 2025 Annual Conference, taking place October 26–29, 2025, at the Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center in Chula Vista (San Diego), California.

The conference is one of the premier gatherings for subrogation professionals, insurance carriers, attorneys, and technical experts. This year’s event will feature educational sessions, networking opportunities, and discussions focused on emerging trends, recovery strategies, and advancements shaping the subrogation and claims management industries.

As part of the conference program, Dr. Lance VanDemark, PE, PhD, F.ASCE, MSCE, Senior Forensic Engineer and Regional Director at VERTEX, will present during Session M.1.1 AUTO | Lagos 1 & 2, “Don’t Get Off the Rails (Combined with Workers’ Comp Track),” on Tuesday, October 28, from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM PST.

The presentation will explore the unique challenges in prosecuting subrogation cases involving railroad crossing collisions, including crossing approach grades, surface and width requirements, preemption defenses for crossing signals, whistle regulations, and vegetation clearance. Insights will be shared from real-world case examples to help attendees navigate the regulatory complexities and pitfalls that impact these claims.

As a sponsor, VERTEX will also have a dedicated booth where attendees can meet and connect with Henry Stormer, IAAI-CFI(V), CFPS, President of Vertex Fire Investigation, LLC (Forensics), and Austin Stormer, IAAI-FIT, ECT, Fire Investigator and Evidence Technician (Claims, Disputes & Forensics). Together, they will share insights on fire origin and cause investigations, evidence handling, and forensic analysis in support of the subrogation process.

VERTEX is proud to support NASP’s mission to advance education, collaboration, and technical excellence in subrogation and claims management.
