VERTEX is pleased to announce that Catherine Pierce and Chris Morley will present as part of a Panel Discussion along with Russ Olsen (Executive Director of Washington Pollution Liability Insurance Agency) on “Financial Responsibility for Underground Storage Tanks: A Story of a Creative WA State Fund Program” at the Environmental and Emerging Claim Manager Association (EECMA). The panel discussion will be based on the positive results of PLIA Senate Bill 6187. Learn more about EECMA.
Earlier this week, at the request of Russ Olsen (Executive Director of Washington Pollution Liability Insurance Agency), Catherine Pierce participated in the 2017 Mid-Year Meeting for The Association of State and Territorial Solid Waste Management Officials, Inc., (ASTSWMO). Ms. Pierce participated in a discussion on “A National Perspective Regarding Risk and Impacts of Aging Infrastructure in the Insurance Marketplace”. This panel included Patrick Perry (AVP Claims, Colony Insurance), Bob Reisner (Michigan Underground Storage Tank Authority, Michigan Department of Environmental Quality), Scott Whittier (Maine Department of Environmental Protection Division Director), and Matt Jones (New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, Oil Compliance and Enforcement Subsection Chief).
VERTEX was first introduced to PLIA through our role as a third-party consultant with Colony Insurance beginning in November 2014, as PLIA is reinsurer for Colony claims in Washington State. In January 2016, Catherine Pierce testified as an expert for the Washington State Senate on behalf of PLIA to support Senate Bill 6187. Bill 6187 was associated with establishing an Underground Storage Tank (UST) revolving loan and grant program with up to $10 Million total, $2 Million per party to be used for the following: upgrades/replace/permanently close UST system; install new or retrofit existing infrastructure; and conduct remedial actions. Senate Bill 6187 was passed and VERTEX has been selected as one of seven contractors to perform the consulting/remedial activities associated with future investigative and remedial activities and assist with third party management of the WA heating oil claims.
We are very proud of Cathy and the rest of the VERTEX team, who have developed this positive relationship with numerous parties associated with this endeavor. Learn more about VERTEX’s Environmental Services.
