VERTEX is providing technical and management support to a Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) and their third-party property management team, after a reported confirmed case of COVID-19 in a tenant space at one of their commercial office properties. A dedicated Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) from our COVID-19 Technical Team developed a site-specific cleaning and disinfecting protocol for each of their properties in multiple markets across the United States. The first project identified the need to clearly establish building-specific requirements related to cleaning and disinfection of the common areas and the tenant spaces. For the Initial case, VERTEX provided oversight services by one of our environmental staff members that attended a company designed COVID-19 health and safety program so projects could be better supported in the field. A post-cleaning and disinfection letter report was issued confirming compliance with the established protocols for the site.
Once a site-specific protocol was issued for each property, VERTEX attended conference calls with the Head of Asset Management, SVP of Engineering, and the property manager for each commercial building or complex. The overall objective was to deliver a standardized program for all their assets and implement a proactive program in response to presumed or confirmed cases at their properties. The purpose of this meeting was to introduce the local VERTEX project team, dedicated CIH technical resource, discuss response actions for common areas vs, tenant spaces, develop a program to pre-qualify cleaning vendors using rapid response questionnaires, oversight services and reporting for property owners and tenants.
VERTEX is currently collaborating with the local property management teams at several of their sites to pre-qualify cleaning vendors and pricing, evaluate new or updated cleaning and disinfectant technologies, and provide updates regarding the latest CDC and WHO recommended guidelines. Routine periodic cleaning and disinfection are being performed by pre-approved vendors using the established protocol for each building as a preventive measure.
