Pedestrian Bridge over Peninsula Boulevard Emergency Repairs

About this Project

LKB was retained by Nassau County Department of Public Works to provide design, condition, and inspection services for the repair of the Peninsula Boulevard Pedestrian Bridge which was damaged in 2017 when it was struck by construction equipment being transported. Scope of work included performing an immediate detailed bridge inspection and providing a brief condition report on the damage to the structure; providing field inspection services to ensure the prompt reopening of the structure; preparation of a work order style set of plans with a cost estimate to allow the County to temporarily return the bridge to safe operation and allow for it to be reopened to pedestrians; preparation of a set of Construction Documents, including plans, specifications, and estimates for the long term repair of the structure, which includes removal and replacement of approximately one third of the bridge.
