James O’Brien is a co-founder of VERTEX. He is a licensed site professional in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and has significant experience related to environmental matters. Mr. O’Brien has managed complex technical projects globally, for a diverse worldwide clientele.
As the original President of VERTEX, Mr. O’Brien guided the company as it grew organically, expanding in both technical service areas and geographical reach. He guided the organization when it was acquired and then led a leveraged management buyback. He also led the company through the transition into an employee-owned company. Mr. O’Brien continues to serve as the Chairman of the Board of Directors where he guides overall operations, compliance, and strategy for the organization. As the Secretary of the company, Mr. O’Brien, is the enterprise risk manager, managing all corporate matters. Within this role, he also manages the due diligence and compliance process for all acquisitions completed by VERTEX.
In addition, Mr. O’Brien serves as the Administrator for The Vertex Companies, Inc. ESOP. As the Administrator, Mr. O’Brien works closely with the Trustee, Legal team, and third party administrator managing the ESOP.
