VERTEX was retained to perform civil and structural engineering of a new building on the Jamaica School Campus. The site work included a new water quality capture volume pond, new dedicated fire access, and hydrant, updated utilities, and coordination with the existing surrounding site conditions. VERTEX also coordinated the MS4 permitting requirements between the City of Aurora and Aurora Public Schools.
Through a series of coordination meetings with the City of Aurora, VERTEX was able to have the 100-year detention requirement waived thus reducing the detention pond size allowing the pond to fit in the front of the building rather than on the backside. This design change saved the client over $200,000 in site work and pond construction.
