VERTEX provided construction claims advisory services for a client on a $477M infrastructure project in Afghanistan. The project scope was for the design and construction of a 233-kilometer section of Highway 1, formally known as Ring Road.
VERTEX was tasked with reviewing a $205M claim put forth by one of the project parties and preparing a risk assessment/analysis relative to potential recovery. In the multi-layered dispute, the claimant sought recovery of damages associated with non-payment, failure to provide adequate security, and a multitude of disruption impacts. VERTEX evaluated the party’s entitlement on each issue and performed an assessment of the purported damages. As the claim alleged multiple schedule impacts, VERTEX’s analysis also included an evaluation of the complex delay analyses put forth by each party.
