About the Speaker: Kai Roberts
With over 7 years of experience, Kai Roberts is a nationally recognized artist and mental health speaker who strives to create positive conversations around mental illness using hip-hop music. Kai has presented at over 55 institutions, both nationally and internationally.
In his presentations, Kai shares his story of overcoming anxiety and intrusive thoughts while attending college at Carnegie Mellon University. He engages audiences with dialogue around the origins of his anxiety, the symptoms he experienced, and the nature of his paralyzing intrusive thoughts, transforming his uncomfortable experiences into valuable learning opportunities.
As a lifelong musician with over 15 years of experience producing, writing, and mixing his own music, Kai has always used the creative process to cope with difficult emotions. He uses hip-hop music to connect with his audience, providing them with creative tools to connect with themselves and tell their own stories. In addition to sharing his own story, Kai creates opportunities for audience members to share theirs. His original music energizes the audience, the crowd engagement provides comfort and peer support, and his takeaways leave the audience refreshed and ready to persevere through their own life struggles and experiences.
