VERTEX Chairman Bill McConnell to Speak at 2024 CLSA International Conference

September 13, 2024

Bill McConnell, PE, JD, MSCE, and Chairman of the Board at VERTEX, will be a featured speaker at the 2024 CLSA International Conference & Induction of Fellows. Taking place from September 18-20, 2024, at The Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage in beautiful Palm Springs, California, this event is a key platform for addressing the critical challenges and opportunities facing the construction industry today.

Bill’s presentation will cover the state of the US Construction Industry in 2024. Bill has presented on this subject each year since 2006 to construction, law, and surety organizations, as well as to many Fortune 500 companies. Construction revenue in the US tipped the $2 trillion mark in 2023, which was the second-best growth year for the industry since the US Census Bureau has been tracking construction data (1993). However, economic headwinds are growing, and many of the 17 construction sectors are compressing in 2024, and backlogs are shrinking. In addition, contractor failure rates are on the rise due to balance sheet issues. Bill will do a deep dive into where the industry stands at this point, where it is heading, and how this will impact the volume and frequency of construction disputes in the future.

The conference is designed for Fellows of the Construction Lawyers Society of America (CLSA) and offers a unique opportunity to enhance legal skills, network with leading construction attorneys from around the world, and earn up to 8 hours of CLE credit, including ethics credits. Attendees will also have the chance to participate in advanced discussions on trial techniques, evidence presentation, negotiations, and alternative dispute resolution methods.

This event will also include the formal Induction of Fellows Gala on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
