VERTEX served as the Construction Manager/Construction Inspector for the City of Glen Cove for the construction of a $3M ferry terminal building on the site of a former brownfield. The project included four prime contracts and is funded with grant money from the Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration. The building is approximately 3,500 GSF with 27-foot high ceilings. Interior finishes include painted drywall, porcelain tile, terrazzo, and painted exposed structural steel. Exterior finishes include EIFS, metal panels and glass curtain wall. VERTEX’s responsibilities included development of construction documents, preparation of preliminary cost estimates and bid analyses, value engineering analysis, review of shop drawings and submittals, preparation of baseline schedules and subsequent updates with emphasis on delay avoidance and claim mitigation, QA/QC inspections, labor monitoring and compliance, safety monitoring, project documentation/daily reporting, and providing technical support throughout all phases of construction. Other responsibilities included payment application review, change order review and negotiation, monitoring minority and female labor goals, and monitoring DBE participation goals.
“Working with VERTEX on the project team, I saw first-hand their thorough understanding of the contract documents. They were a huge asset to an Owner and project that had numerous change orders and contractor challenges.”
