VERTEX was retained by the Owner of a mixed-use high-rise tower in Portland, Oregon to provide quality control monitoring related to the replacement of all curtain wall spandrel glass at the building.
VERTEX conducted a series of site visits that involved discussions with project team members, including the construction manager and glazing subcontractor and assessing the quality of the work performed. From a swing stage scaffold, VERTEX surveyed the installation techniques and workmanship related to the placement of the new glazing, the installation of structural sealant joints, and weather sealant joints, ensuring weeps were provided where needed, as well as other inspection criteria. In addition, VERTEX’s involvement included witnessing and documenting results from periodic water penetration testing of the installed glazing and observing periodic structural sealant testing. Non-compliant conditions observed by VERTEX were reported to the owner and addressed by the contractors.
