VTX served as a consultant to the surety on the Ruttan Mine Site Remediation project in Manitoba, Canada. As a claims consultant supporting the principal at the surety’s request, VTX prepared an affirmative claim for unforeseen conditions which resulted in a $4.75M contract adjustment. During this time, VTX assisted with on-site management of the Project and implementation of project controls. Despite the awarded contract adjustment, the original contractor did not have the resources to complete the Project; following their bankruptcy, VTX prepared a bid package and solicited contractors for the re-tender of the work. Despite the remoteness of the project and challenges with construction in the area, VTX was able to solicit multiple bids for the project from heavy civil contractors and proceed to represent the surety in contract negotiations for the tender of the project to the Government of Manitoba.
