VERTEX served as the construction consulting specific to exterior insulation finishing system (EIFS), providing support and evaluation during the development of the 300+-room hotel development in San Diego. VERTEX’s San Diego office, formerly known as Xpera Group, has earned a strong reputation as a waterproofing consultant over the years, as evidenced in several high-profile projects throughout the region.
In the case of The Pendry, VERTEX was able to bring this critical skill set to the table to assist the owners in the plan review stage and during construction to ensure all waterproofing issues were vetted and resolved in a timely and effective manner.
VERTEX provided support and evaluation of the EIFS system, which had been specified as a moisture drainage system but drove up the cost on the exterior system by $400,000 over the original budget. Under the skilled leadership of the VERTEX team, the building profile and design was evaluated, and a modified system with additional barriers was recommended that would assist with the system’s performance and provide significant cost savings over the original moisture drainage system.
VERTEX also performed inspections and evaluations throughout the project, from design to installation, including the EIFS panels, plaster with brick veneer system, and curtain wall and punched window systems.
