Jay Jacobson

Project Manager, Remediation

Mr. Jacobson is an accomplished Project Manager at VERTEX based in the Scottsdale, Arizona office. He has over seven years of expertise in environmental, health & safety, and engineering consulting. His extensive experience encompasses various projects, including Field Engineering, Construction/Workplace Safety Management, Property Condition Assessments (PCAs), Industrial Hygiene/Building Sciences, Environmental Due Diligence, and Remediation Services. He has demonstrated proficiency in working with different commercial properties, including public/military, multifamily, office/retail, industrial storage/warehouse, hotel, undeveloped land, manufacturing facilities, and manufactured housing communities.

Mr. Jacobson’s extensive environmental consulting background encompasses hazardous material site investigations, exposure assessments, site characterization, remedial investigations and design, removal of underground storage tank (UST) systems, hydrogeologic field studies, site development, brownfield redevelopments, construction and demolition oversight, pre-construction services, regulatory permitting, risk assessments, visual assessments of ADA compliance and evaluating seismic risk. He has spearheaded numerous Phase II Subsurface investigations and remediation projects, including sampling soil, soil gas, indoor air, and groundwater, overseeing soil boring, monitoring well installation, and excavation. Moreover, Mr. Jacobson possesses comprehensive expertise in building sciences, including identifying, designing, abating, and remedying hazardous substances like asbestos, mold, radon, and lead. He is also well-versed in developing, operating, and monitoring public and private drinking water and wastewater systems.

He has successfully executed projects across the continental United States, Alaska, and Hawaii and internationally in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. His in-depth knowledge extends to environmental and workplace safety regulations in the Southwest, Rocky Mountain, Pacific Northwest, Mid-Atlantic, and New England States.

Throughout these endeavors, he has ensured compliance with various work scopes, including those defined by ASTM, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) All Appropriate Inquiry (AAI), Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, health and safety best practices, and specific client requirements.

As a Project Manager, Mr. Jacobson takes on additional responsibilities such as business development, client management, proposal preparation, development and coordination of project work plans and schedules, extensive site research, health and safety plan development, project oversight, report generation, technical review, quality control, subcontractor management, interaction with regulators and clients, and driving overall environmental operations growth in Arizona and throughout the Rocky Mountain Region.
