The next chapter in The Miriam Hospital’s legacy of care is officially underway. On Tuesday, October 21, Brown University Health and The Miriam Hospital hosted a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of the hospital’s redevelopment project in Providence, Rhode Island — and VERTEX was proud to be part of the moment.
Representing VERTEX’s Owner’s Project Management (OPM) team, Nelson Carreiro, Christy Murphy, and Michael Quinlan joined hospital leaders and project partners to break ground on a new facility that will elevate emergency and inpatient services for the Rhode Island community.
Representing VERTEX’s Owner’s Project Management (OPM) team, Nelson Carreiro, Christy J. Murphy, LEED AP, and Michael Quinlan joined hospital leaders and project partners to mark the beginning of this transformative effort to enhance emergency and inpatient services for the Rhode Island community.
The redevelopment will replace the hospital’s historic “Building A,” constructed in 1924, with a state-of-the-art facility featuring an expanded emergency department and 49 private inpatient rooms — advancing The Miriam’s commitment to patient-centered care, privacy, and comfort.
As the project’s OPM, VERTEX began its services during construction document development and will continue through construction, providing construction management procurement support and full-time onsite representation. The replacement building will be integrated with existing facilities adjacent to the hospital’s main entrance and ambulance drop-off, requiring careful site logistics coordination.
The project is being delivered in collaboration with E4H – Environments for Health Architecture (Architect) and Suffolk Construction (General Contractor).
Construction is scheduled to begin in fall 2025, marking an exciting step forward in The Miriam Hospital’s century-long mission to deliver exceptional healthcare to the region.
