VERTEX Sponsoring the ABA’s FCL 2024 Fall Meeting

October 14, 2024

VERTEX is proud to be a sponsor of the ABA’s Forum on Construction Law 2024 Fall Meeting, which will take place from October 23–25, 2024, at the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown Hotel in Pittsburgh, PA. This event will feature a range of discussions and presentations covering essential topics in design and construction law, appealing to professionals in both transactional and litigation practices. Attendees will explore new techniques for addressing design challenges and gain insight into the designer’s role in the construction process.

Representing VERTEX at the event will be Michael King, PE, Director of Contract Claims, and Kevin Talley, PSP, Contract Claims Manager. We invite attendees to visit our sponsor table to connect with Michael and Kevin, who will be available to discuss how VERTEX’s expertise in contract claims, forensics, and litigation services can support your construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about our solutions for managing disputes and minimizing risk in complex construction scenarios.

This year’s program will cover a broad range of topics relevant to both transactional and litigation practices. Designed for professionals at all experience levels, attendees will explore cutting-edge issues in design and construction law, gaining valuable insights into how design challenges can be resolved through modern approaches and technologies.

Key Sessions Include:

  • Architect Perspectives: Prominent architects will share insights into the design process, offering attendees an inside look at how they bring clients’ visions to life. This session will highlight essential collaboration points for legal professionals working on design-related matters.
  • Standard of Care in Design: Learn about defining and managing the standard of care in design, including when breaches may occur, a critical issue for contract claims and risk management.
  • Owner-Designer Agreements: This session will focus on navigating and negotiating key contract provisions that govern the owner-designer relationship, providing a framework for managing risk in design projects.
  • BIM and Construction: Attendees will have the chance to explore the impact of Building Information Modeling (BIM) on the construction process, with a live walkthrough demonstrating how digitized data transforms project outcomes.
  • Professional Liability Insurance: Experts will cover the differences in professional liability insurance policies, an essential topic for managing claims related to design and construction.
  • Ethics and AI in Construction: As technology continues to evolve, understanding the ethical considerations of using artificial intelligence in design and construction is becoming increasingly important.

In addition, this meeting will include part two of the Forum’s three-part practicum series, focusing on mastering document discovery in construction law. Participants will receive practical guidance on best practices for identifying, collecting, and reviewing construction records.

Michael King and Kevin Talley look forward to joining fellow professionals at this event to discuss the latest trends and challenges in construction law, while also gaining insights that will benefit our clients in managing complex contract claims and legal matters.

We look forward to connecting with you in Pittsburgh.
