At the heart of New Fortress Energy’s vital emergency power project at Palo Seco in Puerto Rico, VERTEX played a critical role in bringing resilient energy to an island still recovering from devastating grid failures. With the project fast-tracked to meet urgent power needs, VERTEX mobilized quickly to deliver a comprehensive HAZOP study and risk-based fire protection design that could withstand the challenges of both speed and complexity. Our team developed the NFPA 59A site evaluation and fire hazard assessment, then followed through with detailed design documents for the firewater and gas detection systems. We also oversaw fire alarm system procurement and produced shop drawings under a highly compressed schedule. By combining deep technical expertise with agile execution, VERTEX helped ensure this high-stakes project was delivered safely, compliantly, and on time—powering Puerto Rico’s path toward a more resilient energy future.
