VERTEX provided a complete fire suppression design for two critical aircraft hangars at Naval Air Station Pensacola, which included the home base hangar of the famous Blue Angels. The scope of this project included the detailed design, construction observation, and comprehensive acceptance testing of a new fire pump building with redundant diesel and electric driven fire pumps, new fire sprinkler systems, and new low-level oscillating firewater monitors in each hanger to disperse potential large fuel spills without the use of environmentally damaging low-expansion firefighting foams. The project was delivered on time and within budget with successful final commissioning and acceptance testing completed in December of 2022.
The contract was originally awarded to Neptune Fire Protection Engineering (Neptune). The Vertex Companies, LLC, acquired Neptune in 2022.
