VERTEX performed a claim investigation at a crude oil mining site located in Texas for the insurance carrier to assess the pollution impacts from an oil release. The release, which originated from a corroded six-inch serving line, was estimated to be 150 barrels of crude oil and had impacted the surrounding soil and a nearby creek. VERTEX reviewed the incident reports, emergency response operations, and invoices. VERTEX also interviewed relevant parties as part of this investigation. Based on VERTEX’s findings, the insurance carrier was able to differentiate between costs associated with on-site and off-site remedial actions. VERTEX’s findings resulted in nearly $200,000 savings to the insurance carrier.
