VERTEX was retained to provide an expert opinion for a defendant named in a lawsuit regarding the cleanup of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) identified in soil and sediment on the banks of a brook, which is a tributary to a major urban river. VERTEX researched historical records and data, and based on the results of the document review, we completed an Expert Opinion Report utilized during litigation.
As part of the Expert Opinion Report, VERTEX reviewed over six-thousand soil and sediment samples analyzed for PCBs, that were collected from the banks and upland properties along the brook. VERTEX also completed a comprehensive historical assessment of the use of the site between the 1890s and present to determine the chain of ownership and historical on-site operations which may have involved PCBs.
VERTEX’s deposition and testimony in court provided a solid foundation of evidence in favor of our client.
