VERTEX served as Owner’s Project Manager for the Town of Stoughton for the new Stoughton High School project. The original High School, built in 1923 and located at 232 Pearl Street in Stoughton on 20+/- acres, was no longer suitable due to the condition of the buildings and the outdated design. In January 2017, the Massachusetts School Building Authority voted to approve the Town of Stoughton’s Statement of Interest giving the Town the opportunity to renovate or construct a new Stoughton High School. VERTEX was hired by the Town to manage the design and construction of the new High School. After an extensive review of options, it was determined and unanimously voted and endorsed by the Stoughton Boards of Selectman and School Committee that the most viable option was the construction of a new, 215,000 square foot, state-of-the-art, world-class High School. The new High School would be built within 30 feet of the existing school. VERTEX spearheaded the strategic planning in order to minimize the impact on the students, faculty, administration, and community to provide the Town of Stoughton with a High School that would meet the educational, health, and social needs of its students.

The new Stoughton High School was unveiled at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Monday, August 26, 2019. The 214,000 square-foot building provides students with a 21st century building for a phenomenal educational setting including collaborative and flexible spaces, advanced technology, and natural light throughout the building. Features of the new school include the cafeteria with a courtyard, a gymnasium with a maximum capacity of 1,500 people and 1,230 bleacher seats, three basketball courts, three volleyball courts, a drop-down batting cage and a net and mat hoist for wrestling and cheerleading. Next to the gym is an 865-seat auditorium with three catwalks for lighting, a projection room, suspended clouds for acoustics, and a makeup/dressing room. There is also a Genius Bar to serve the technological needs of the students. The art wing includes a kiln room and dark room with a photo room for processing, a black box theater, and music practice rooms. Other highlights include science/lab rooms, classrooms of varying sizes, a student career center, and collaborative workspaces.
