VERTEX has provided structural engineering consulting for 14 different liability claims involving vehicle impacts to bridges in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Illinois ranging in value up to $1.2M. Services have included performing damage assessment, repair evaluation, and estimate analysis/review for the scope of necessary repairs to bridge from various vehicle impacts or over-height vehicles. VERTEX worked with contractors, state DOTs, and carriers to come to a settlement and agreement on scope and estimate.
For example, at the request of an insurance company (Client), VERTEX performed an inspection and reviewed documents to evaluate the extent of structural damage to a bridge structure located in Somerville, Massachusetts, and to evaluate a repair cost estimate. The bridge structure was reportedly damaged by an over-height dump truck driven by the Insured. VERTEX’s performed a visual inspection of the bridge structure, reviewed claim documents and estimates submitted to the Client, interviewed the repair contractor involved, and prepared a summary report.
