The new $163 million Embassy compound was built on the existing U.S. Embassy’s 11-acre site located in the diplomatic quarter of the City of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. This was an occupied and functioning embassy compound that remained functioning throughout the project period. Extensive phasing and close coordination of new Embassy construction with existing Embassy operations were required to maintain the security and integrity of the compound at all times, allowing the normal functioning of the diplomatic mission to proceed. The work elements of this project were also phased to eliminate interruption from construction activities. New buildings included Main Embassy Building, Compound Access Control Facilities (four total), Marine Service Guard Quarters, Utility Building, & Warehouse Facility. Phased demolition of all existing compound structures was also completed once the new compound was commissioned and secured.
