Mr. Macuch has a total of 6 years of experience in environmental consulting related to remediation, emergency response, environmental health, and safety, site investigation and characterization, environmental insurance cause and origin claim investigation, environmental insurance claim management, loss control analysis, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
Mr. Macuch has overseen emergency response remedial activities related to releases of oil and/or hazardous material from oil-filled electrical equipment, vehicles, and natural gas regulators. He has also performed numerous Phase II Subsurface Site Investigations and site characterizations at a variety of commercial and industrial properties such as fuel stations, automobile repair shops, dry cleaners, and electrical substations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. His fieldwork experience includes soil sampling, groundwater sampling, indoor air sampling, soil vapor sampling, monitoring well installation oversight, drilling oversight, and hazardous building material sample collection. Mr. Macuch has provided air monitoring and health and safety oversight to construction contractors working within areas of known or likely contamination. Other areas of Mr. Macuch’s experience in environmental consulting involve underground storage tank (UST) removals/closures and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) remediation. Mr. Macuch’s report writing experience includes preparing release notification reports, investigation and assessment reports, and site-closure reports to the MassDEP for state-listed contaminated properties.
At VERTEX, Mr. Macuch serves as a Project Manager in the Environmental Insurance Division and manages and oversees insurance claims on behalf of insurance carriers. Current responsibilities include the following: investigate the cause, origin, and timing of an environmental incident; manage environmental insurance claims undergoing remediation; evaluate remedial options to determine the most feasible and cost-effective strategy; review proposed and incurred costs for reasonableness; conduct loss control risk analysis for properties seeking insurance coverage.
