VERTEX was selected as the Structural Engineering Design Consultant for the prestigious, 420,000SF, Mandarin Oriental Resort located on St. James Point, on the South shore of Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands. The hotel complex includes two 10-story buildings with a total of 78 guest rooms and 22 condominiums on the top floors. The structural system, a post tensioned cast-in-place concrete floor slab, minimizes the depth of structure and maximizes the floor to floor height. Other significant buildings on the site include the event space and ballroom, guest arrival and check-in building, and the back of house.
