VERTEX was selected as the Structural Engineering Design Consultant for the prestigious Mandarin Oriental Resort located on St. James Point, on the South shore of Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands. The hotel will be constructed as two 10-story buildings with a total of 78 guest rooms and 22 condominiums on the top floors. The structural system will be post tensioned cast-in-place concrete floor slabs to minimize the depth of structure and maximize the floor to floor height. Other significant buildings on the site will include the event space and ballroom, guest arrival and check-in building, and the back of house. The 420,000 SF project is expected to be completed in 2022.
