The USAG Humphreys Phase III Facility project includes a new ground-up facility and associated site improvements. The building is two stories in height and 81,698 square feet in area. The building is a cast-in-place concrete structure, fully secured per the US Department of Defense standards. The building houses classified electronic equipment. With a program classification of “Mission Critical”, the building is designed to be fully self-supportive for a minimum of 72 hours. As a result, the building was designed to accommodate more space than typically required for service and utilities. Some of the mechanical equipment includes four large generators and other sophisticated mechanical equipment. Large underground site utilities include four 12,000 gallon fuel tanks, a water tank, a pump pit, domestic water tanks, a chilled water tank, and three electrical vaults. Additional site improvements include large temporary facilities, roadways, utility connections, and a ram-barrier fence. VERTEX’s role included weekly progress meetings, site observation, schedule analysis, cash flow analysis, surety loss exposure analysis, project oversight, review and approval of subcontractor payment applications, project documentation, and general project coordination and facilitation.
